Snowy with a Chance to Shower

I’ll spare you the many details, but we finally finished our bathroom renovation (click the link for before pictures). We stopped work on Tuesday night at about 10:30…and then went and took baths as we waited for the last of the caulk to cure. Tonight, though, we shower!

We’re pretty proud of our results. HUGE thank you to Mom and Dad; we could not have done this without you!

Meanwhile, lake effect snow has slowly piled up, and melted, and repiled. We have a few inches of fluff, brightening the cloudy, too-short days and lending an appropriate feel to the season, inspiring me to bake too many sweets. (Gary and Jill, I hope you’re interested in cookies!)

We haven’t had nearly enough outdoor excitement with our inside construction. Below is a compilation of images from the last few days. I’m looking forward to spending more time outside in the coming days, including some skiing soon – assuming we don’t lose all our snow late this weekend.

As always with these mosaics – including the one above – click any photo for a full-size version in a slideshow ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I gasped at the red leaf-flower-thingees. How lovely, Heather! I am not gasping at your bathroom, because I KNEW you would create a most wonderful place to bathe, and yes, if you must, shower…

    • We had driven into a favorite lakeside park for a visit, and when we were getting in the car to leave, I told Tony: I want to stop at a spot on the way out…there were some red berries I wanted to check out ๐Ÿ™‚
Shower drain appears to be leaking. Heart is broken. Working on a solution so we may shower.

  4. I hope that you can solve the leak issue, and that the bathroom works great 4 ever! As always, we love helping and being a part of your lives..love you both

  5. Looks like the bathroom turned out awesome!! Any tips of do’s or dont’s? As far as the weather, was able to get out the x country skiis yesterday for the first time! Hoping the snow doesn’t melt away ( wow never thought I would say that).

    • Where did you ski?
As far as the bathroom – DO have someone strong and knowledgeable, plan to buy more than you need and hope to take some back. Plan on more than a week, especially if tiling, because there’s a lot of drying time. Don’t buy a tile saw from Sportsman’s Guide. My mom and dad bought us one from there, and the only thing it was good for was smoothing the cuts that my dad made with his sawzall. EVERY single tile cut was made with that or a hole saw. Really, though, unless you have someone close to you who knows pretty much everything about a bathroom reno, I’d just find a good contractor!

  6. So sorry to hear about your leak ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Hope you manage to sort it out without too much difficulty. (Yes, the blog title is great! ๐Ÿ™‚ ) It LOOKS really lovely though, straight out of a magazine!
It also looks really really cold where you are…..

    • I am happy to report that the leak has been fixed with relative ease, and we have officially taken our first showers in it ๐Ÿ™‚
It’s cold right now, but not as cold as it will be. The temperature is hovering right around freezing, but we are expecting a warmer weekend.

    • Thank you Carol. We love the way it looks, and are grateful that it works now too ๐Ÿ™‚ I loved those icicles, too, even though that angle is not my usual. They’re gone now ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
