After several days of utterly idyllic weather – endless sun, mid-70’s, light breezes – we awoke today to not-quite-40 degrees and drizzle. While this might sound like complaint, it’s actually the opposite. The morels have just started popping up, and like so many spring ephemerals, they need water and slightly cooler temperatures to thrive. While the grass is also thriving this weekend, I’ll be out in the woods. Whistle if you need me š
Nice flowers!
Thank you – I love the way they look dotted with rain drops š
Yes, rain drops actually make them happy but look fragile.
Gorgeous! Good luck on your Morel hunt.
Your luck must have seen us through š We found a half dozen that indicates the mushroom season is about to break open. We’ll be in the hills all day tomorrow, and perhaps even Sunday.

Whistling–not cuz I need you–but because you showed such pretty pictures!
Thank you Ms. Kathy. All the little rain drops really caught my eye š
Nice! It’s sleeting here…sigh….I hear you had good weather while we were gone. It was in the 80’s some of the days we were tromping around DC in suits. Also while we were stuck in traffic in Georgetown. But I wasn’t complaining! Today it’s 40 something. Summer is welcome to stop by now any time. Remind me of this when I’m hot this August.
We did have good weather, but we are currently “enjoying” the same garbage you’ve got downstate š The seasonal changes conspire to keep us on our toes – either complaining or reminding ourselves not to complain.
Still in love with that last orange tulip(?) ā¤
Yep – it’s a tulip š And it’s just about done for the season. Looked for some red ones for you yesterday, but didn’t succeed.
