Dog Days

I’m sure you’ve all been waiting anxiously to see how our evening turned out – you remember; we went on that beach hike where it was cloudy and windy the whole time only to have the sun pop out as we left for dinner? I thought you remembered.

Since the sun was still out after dinner, we all decided more time on the beach would be best. Isn’t it always? Our bare feet sifted through the cool sand while we basked in sun (finally) beating down through the ever-present breeze. The pups were oblivious to the things we enjoyed, but then I suspect we can’t quite discern the nuances that delight them.

We had no plans for the rest of the evening save appreciating it. Jim and Jess headed for the northern parts of the adjacent county, while Tony and I aimed to complete a hike that we had abandoned a year or so previously. It wasn’t in the cards; before we even stepped on the path, mosquitoes swarmed, and we simply weren’t in the mood.

Instead, we opted to hang out a bit longer on a different beach – where the wind keeps the bugs at bay – and watch the sun set.

In between beach visits and sunsets, and beach visits with sunsets, Tony and I have been driving ourselves crazy with house shopping. We know better than to get attached to any potential homes, but we’ve looked at a couple in person and find ourselves hoping they’ll be available when the time comes.

We’re not really that hopeful, and all the shopping is helpful. Though we’d love to speed up the process, having time to sort through options is nice. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of a new home, and being forced to take it slow has allowed us to explore some vastly different choices.

I’ll keep you posted on Operation Relocation, but in the meantime, don’t worry too much about us 😉 We’re managing to find time to do things we love – you know, aside from poring over homes for sale and imagining the renovation potential!

  1. Looks to me like Petey is a bit of a clam digger. Or is it that he believes he’ll find the pirate’s gold? Good luck with the sale of your home and the purchase of a new one – selling, buying, packing, moving, unpacking – good part of my list of least favorite things.

    • I am often not at all sure what he’s digging for. Regardless, he only does it at the beach, and it’s a good way to burn energy, so we encourage it. He managed to fling sand on my sister every time we were on the beach together during their recent visit 🙂
I’m just pretending the unpleasant parts of a move don’t exist. In my mind, the sale of our house goes smoothly, and then we just appear in our new house. Yep. That sounds about right!

  2. Petey seems to have discovered a new way of looking at sunsets. I thinksh I ll givsh it a trysh. Hic 🙂

Good luck with the house hunting. Best to creep up on them. :-). I’m sure you’ll deal with it when the time comes.

  3. Petey is adorable. While reading your post I was viscerally transported back to the smells of your part of the world. Am tired, have been busy, but am surely enjoying these late summer days. Blessings.

    • Hmmm – what smells? Are they really that different from the smells near you? And isn’t it funny how your senses can chime in so loudly on certain memories?
We love that little (ha!) dog. I’m glad you said “adorable” though. We often hear people remark how he’s “beautiful.” I think he looks happy and healthy, but he’s no beauty queen. He’s just such a goofball, I’m not sure people see the same thing we do 😉
Glad you’re enoying your summer. I hear this winter is going to be another potentially tough one. I shant count my eggs – or whatever – before they hatch!

  4. Can’t read the full post or see the pics in a large size, but Petey is awesome regardless of size and I’m assuming you’ve had a fantasticular time 😀 Hopefully WordPress will sort out my issues soon, although at this point, I have no way of knowing whether that have even received my complaint! Sigh…and I was considering a Premium update :/

      • So here’s the thing…I can see this entire post on the iPad but not on the laptop 😳 Meanwhile I can write a new post and edit it, but cannot view it or the blog nor access my admin 😁😁😁 I have no idea what’s going on 😠

But I got to see the always gorgeous pictures 😄😄😄 and Petey! Beaches and sunsets…the best things in Life are free 😉
